Top 6 Activities for the Active Couple

If taking your date to a movie and dinner (as fun as that may be) is beginning to feel like a bit of a cop out, but your valiant attempts at producing unique and adventurous date ideas seems to be failing, we’ve done the hard bit for you by coming up with fool proof date ideas, perfect for active couples on their first or fifty third date.

1- Adults Only Mini Golf

When thinking of mini golf the mind may conjure the likes that occupy family holiday hotels, filled with shrieking children, melted ice cream, and the distant -yet still audible- sound of a child failing their dive execution and belly flopping into the pool.

While the typical mini golf venue inherently does not exude a romantic atmosphere, indoor adults only mini golf bars are catching on and popping up across different cities, providing the perfect backdrop for a romantic evening. The venues are often themed and double as bars, meaning that you and your partner will find yourselves sipping on pitchers of ice cold cocktails underneath webs of fairy lights and retro style disco balls suspended from the ceiling.

2- Take a Hike

Perfect for the active couple with an adventurous spirit, hikes are not only beneficial for health, but enable long conversations and quality time too (at least until you’re out of breath, then if your partner keeps talking and expects long winded answers it may be time to rethink your relationship).

The saying ‘it’s not just about the destination but the journey as well’ holds true here; while the view from whichever high peak you’ve both hiked to the top of will be spectacular and rewarding, a day away from the bustling city means a decent amount of time spent in a car.

Take your road trip to the next level by stocking up on snacks and creating a road trip playlist, and if you’re at the beginning of the relationship, take this opportunity of literally being stuck in a small moving steel box with each other for the next hour and find out a little more about your date.

3 - Mystery Picnic

A mild day, laying on the grass with your partner, a decadent array of cheeses lying before you and the breeze caressing your face - it doesn’t get more romantic than a picnic, and it doesn’t get more fun than an AmazingCo Mystery Picnic Date.

Designed with active couples with an adventurous spirit in mind, a Mystery Picnic consists of you and your date working for your food by solving a number of riddles and clues, leading you to boutique food stores where you collect your picnic pieces. The final clue will then divulge the location of your picnic spot, where you two can enjoy the fruits of your labour and watch the afternoon drift slowly by.

4 - Ice Skating

While reminiscent of at least 12 cheesy teen rom coms and boyband music videos alike, ice skating is in actual fact a real life thing that you -yes, you- and your partner can do. And with most large cities being home to an ice rink, getting your skate on is an often cheaper (And way funner) alternative to the classic dinner and movie date.

Although romantic (many ice rinks crank up the ambience with music and mood lighting, plus your date probably looks cute as a button wrapped up in a beanie and scarf), if one of you is experienced and the other is not, we do not recommend holding hands- if one of you trips you can bet the other will go down too.

For extra cosiness and good times, grab a hot chocolate from the ice rink kiosk or head back to someone’s house and attempt mulled wine (simply simmer red wine, orange juice and spices on low heat) to keep the Wintery vibes going.

5- Drink Discovery Walk

While arguing with a long term partner about which bar to frequent for your weekly date night (you’re sick of that same old wine bar and want to try out the new cosy brewery but someone won’t take no for an answer) or wracking your brains for the perfect first date watering hole that exudes romance but not too much romance is an experience in itself, certain problems would cease to form if we could just visit multiple bars without having to choose ourselves.

Enter AmazingCo’s Drink Discovery Walk, which provides solutions to all which bar should we go to related problems by simply telling you which bar to go to - but with a twist. Over the course of the evening, you and your partner will need to band together to solve a number of riddles and clues, leading you to a number of watering holes where delicious prepaid drinks await you.

The experience likens itself to an adults only scavenger hunt so you already know it’s one of the best things ever, and can be read about in more detail here

6- Double Date It Up With a Challenge Party Night

While staring lovingly into your partner’s eyes is nice, hanging out with other couples by combining date nights can be just as enjoyable and injects a little uniqueness into the night. The kind folks over at AmazingCo have made this possible by creating their Challenge Party, in which you and your other coupled up pals will spend the evening competing in games and fast paced challenges (whether you compete in teams or individuals is up to you).

Even better, if you can’t be fussed leaving your house or having people over, the Challenge Party can be made completely virtual - you’ll all just need to Zoom / Facebook call / Skype (is Skype still around?) in.
