Swan Valley Mystery Picnic and Camel Encounter
What is the experience?
From October to April, enjoy a behind-the-scenes camel experience, where you’ll meet these gentle, intelligent, and affectionate creatures up close. With small group bookings, you’ll have the chance to cuddle camels, learn about their unique personalities, and snap the perfect camel selfie.
From May to September, the experience shifts to a seasonal animal encounter with some of the sanctuary’s most lovable residents. You might find yourself walking an alpaca, getting up close with miniature donkeys, or learning about the incredible survival superpowers of beautiful camels.
Each visit is a little different, but always personal — with plenty of opportunities to connect, learn, and capture the perfect animal selfie. Solve carefully curated clues and riddles that will guide you on a journey to collect your gourmet picnic ingredients. Each clue leads you closer to your next food stop and your final scenic picnic spot!

Food and dietaries
We won’t give away too much here, it is part of the mystery after all! But you can safely expect gourmet foods from local artisan producers, including your traditional picnic foods (such as cheese, meats, fruits and crackers etc.). And naturally, as artisan producers will be unique to the different destinations, the final picnic content varies slightly between them.
Absolutely! We can cater for most dietary needs for no additional charge, including gluten free, vegan, and vegetarian diets. Customers can also outline any allergies we should be aware of at the time of booking. We recommend pescatarians book as vegetarians.
Inclusions
Pricing is based on two adults.
You will need a car to explore and complete your day trip. Please ensure that you notify the winery who is driving so they can limit tasting sizes..
All food and wine will be covered in the cost of your experience, including picnic supplied for your perfect picnic spot.
On the day
Tasting in the Dark accommodates all levels, requiring no prior expertise. It's a journey of wine enlightenment, where you'll uncover tricks and techniques to enhance your wine-tasting prowess and deepen your appreciation of flavour profiles.
We recommend allowing around 6 hours, including enjoying your tasting experience and picnic. You can certainly take longer as you explore the region!
Your digital experience instructions for your picnic will be emailed to you 24 hours prior to your selected date. Post-purchase, your confirmation email will detail all the necessary information about timing and what to pack.
No local knowledge is required to solve the clues on the day. Whether you know the region well, or it's your first visit, the experience is designed to guide you to discover new things during your visit!
We will always have a picnic spot planned for you; be that a picnic area, a park or even a winery. Please note that picnic set up is not included so you are welcome to find a spot and settle in to eat. We also recommend bringing along a picnic blanket if you have one, in case you decide to settle on the grass.
