What is the experience?
This unique experience pairs our much-loved Mystery Picnic in South Bank with an exclusive behind-the-scenes tasting at a secret Chocolate Laboratory.
Your adventure begins with a series of clues and riddles that guide you through the best of South Brisbane. At each stop, you’ll collect yummy picnic goodies, getting closer to your final picnic location—perfect for soaking up the riverside atmosphere.
Then, step behind the curtain at our secret chocolate location for a rich, hands-on tasting experience. Led by the creative director and head chocolatier, you’ll sample a curated range of couverture and chocolate while learning how to profile flavours through a 5-step sensory journey. It’s an indulgent way to discover how chocolate is truly meant to be experienced.
With food, fun, and a little bit of magic, this sweet adventure is one to remember.
Recommended for ages 10+. Children must be supervised by an adult. Access to the Chocolate Laboratory requires adherence to manufacturing and COVID-safe protocols.

What kind of food will we pick up on our journey?
We won’t give away too much here, it is part of the mystery after all! But you can safely expect gourmet foods from local artisan producers, including your traditional picnic foods (such as cheese, meats, fruits and crackers etc.). And naturally, as artisan producers will be unique to the different destinations, the final picnic content varies slightly between them.
Can you accommodate for dietary requirements?
Absolutely! We can cater for most dietary needs for no additional charge, including gluten free, vegan, and vegetarian diets. Customers can also outline any allergies we should be aware of at the time of booking. We also do our best to cater for pregnancy when requested, we recommend pescetarians book as vegetarians.
Is pricing per person or couple?
Pricing is based on two adults.
Is transport included?
The picnic component of the experience is designed for walking. The experience does start away from South Bank, so you are welcome to park here, and return after the experience, which is around a 10 minute walk. In total, you will walk approximately 3km. There is also great public transport available in this area of Brisbane.
Do I need to pay for food on the day?
All food for your picnic will be covered in the cost of your experience. If you wish to make additional purchases, we do have some exclusive discounts along the way.
When will I get my clues?
You’ll get your clues via email a day or two before your picnic, after which you'll have all your clues, games and puzzles ready to go! Please note, you'll need a mobile phone with internet access the day of your experience.
What does the premium option include?
Our premium mystery picnics include everything in our All Inclusive experience, along with some added extras. These include a bonus stop along the way, a hot drink, and a delicious specialty snack. Please note that a bottle of wine is not included as standard unless a wine add on has been selected.
Do I need to bring anything?
Nothing will be required, but these guidelines must be adhered to:
- Covid vaccination proof
- Waiver form completed prior to tasting
- Closed shoes
- No perfume/aftershave
What is the difference between a picnic date and a picnic with friends?
Our Mystery Picnic Dates are designed to be a unique couples day out. While the experiences are similar, for groups of two or more teens or adults, we recommend booking a Mystery Picnic with Friends.
What will the day look like?
You can decide your specific start time and the pace for the day! We recommend getting started around 11am to give yourself enough time without feeling like you have to rush through the day. Please note some routes may have a slightly different recommendation specific to that route and the vendor opening hours. All you need to do is follow your clues which will lead the way!
How long does the experience go for?
We recommend allowing around 4 hours including the chocolate experience, which will take place after your picnic.
What is your rescheduling and cancellation policy?
As we pre-plan and book you in for your stops along the way, we need 3 business days notice if you wish to reschedule your experience.
What is your wet weather policy?
Some of our destinations can cater for an indoor picnic spot, just ask one of our friendly concierges. But if you'd prefer to reschedule your picnic due to rain we'll need 3 business days notice, so we encourage you to keep an eye on the forecast in rainier seasons.
Do I need to know the area well to solve the clues?
No local knowledge is required to solve the clues on the day. Whether you know the region well, or it's your first visit, the experience is designed to guide you to discover new things during your visit!
Where do I eat my picnic?
We will always have a picnic spot planned for you; be that a picnic area, a park or even a winery. Please note that picnic setup is not included, so you are welcome to find a spot and settle in to eat. We also recommend bringing along a picnic blanket if you have one, in case you decide to settle on the grass.
How do I access my experience instructions to start my experience?
Your digital experience instructions for your picnic will be emailed to you 24 hours prior to your selected date. Post-purchase, your confirmation email will detail all the necessary information about timing and what to pack.
